[RECE] Nightmare (2010) Mini Reviews
premise. What was the Nightmare of '84? In those years, in the late 70's and early 80's horror American has been especially prolific slasher titles, then moved to the history of the genre. We talk about Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare, Hellraiser, and so on, all founders of endless, and usually bad, followed. Nightmare was not an exception, having produced over a dozen years six followed. The creator of the series, Wes Craven, with a degree in literature and philosophy, not exactly the first idiot, this film has reached its peak of success and criticism, telling the story of his modern bogeyman, Freddy Krueger, which manifests itself in dreams the unlucky players making very tenuous the line between dream and reality. The basis of the film was very strong, a reflection on the value of fear that feeds on itself, a subtle political discourse on justice do-it-yourself ... In short, to speak there was none. Obviously it was not treated explicitly, and in fact has been covered by most simply as a great horror film. Nothing wrong with that. The interpretation of Robert Englund has become iconic. The following have slowly destroyed the sense of the series, resulting in a series string of films that have accentuated absolutely useless in a ridiculous irony of the character of Freddy, with embarrassing results. Exceptions are the third and the seventh chapter, written by Craven just happened. In particular, the last one made me mad.
In recent years, Hollywood has proven to be quite short of ideas, and decided to redo all the horror of those years. In short, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was made with knowledge of the facts, and frankly I liked the most original, "Halloween" and its sequel have been extraordinary, Zombie is an excellent director and has also shown here (and, it is clear, The Carpenter's Halloween is my all time favorite horror), "Friday the 13th" did not come from a large base, even the original is great, the remake is a bullshit but it's a honest film . Then this. So, I hope that with the premises it was found that a film is not nothing, horror icons Freddy is one of the most important in history, despite the way it was treated in the following film. Movies that are following their own shit because mass-produced and two dollars.
There are no such excuses. New Line is not the same that have produced the first, after "The Lord of the Rings" has a lot of money to suck, and if it wants to revive its franchise and has all the resources it wants. Obviously, he has been running with my ass.
We start by actor, Jackie Earle Haley, who must assume the role of Krueger. All we admired in Watchmen, and the fact that it is a good / very good actor no doubt. But here his performance was disappointing, certainly not his fault but a script and a director of botched and inconsistent. And, to note, the trick is worse than the original, and it should make us think. The rest of the cast is very bad at the same level, from gnocchissima Katie "Ruby Supernatural" Cassidy, a Rooney "Futura Lisbeth Salander" Mara, Thomas "John Connor's TSCC" Dekker, all reduced to caricatures with no personality.
The director is also a disgusting, absolutely free with the use of special effects and the constant search of terror easy (at the level of Buh! When Freddy). But the worst thing is the screenplay, which is fragmented, lacking a basic purpose, without rhythm, and combining strings of cliches to taxes / cloning is the original (in the case of Cassidy in the body bag, even in ridiculous fashion, not to mention the last frames). The basic way the film is completely misunderstood, and the way in which "dies" Freddy the end is nothing short of ridiculous. Among other things, using film you are convinced that the protagonist is the Cassidy by the way the characters are handled, when it is the Mara.
Morale at the end of the film I found myself yearning for Freddy Vs Jason. That says it all. New
