[RECE] Inception

Of Inception said he was everything and more. Nolan has been hailed as successor to Kubrick and Hitchcock, and the like.
Nothing could be more exaggerated.
Nolan is without doubt one of the most interesting scene, but put it in parallel with a Fincher to Kubrick.
Personally I think the high points of his career are Memento and The Prestige, but it must be said that can not get the wrong one, let alone this one.

They all praised, mostly with good reason, I'll just say what I did not like.

The problem with this film is that it is overly complex, but is not complete. Manca a context of what is happening (the technology used in the film is more widespread than it seems if you are careful), but the biggest flaws in the plot are petty. The screenplay is great, running a kind of layered narrative of this kind without getting lost is hard, and succeed, but the starting point of the whole I found a little 'seedy. Nolan tends a bit 'to welcome the talent, and it's quite hard to be involved in the story. And, importantly, is an overlong film. Not because it wastes time, but instead why do not waste a second. Keep the focus on 100% for two and a half hours is tough. Even Kubrick has ever asked such a thing to the viewer. Also because in the end a couple of things do not add too much. And, despite what they say about, is not so 'complex. E'stratificato, but linear, then it does not take too much to follow the path of the protagonists in the various levels of dream. I had read that the structure was very complex but then unraveled in the final. Well, I found the hotel quite clear enough and the final phone call (though no doubt deliberately).

I would not give the wrong impression, I liked the movie and I would like to review more, but I find that the opinions I read are a bit 'exaggerated. Nolan has done even better. And I'm sure that will surprise us again.

final note on Di Caprio. After Titanic could have pleased the fact that it's a cool lady (it is undeniable), and make movies of shit. Instead, he is at play, he pulled out two balls as big as an actor, and after ten years continues to confirm one of the best in the environment. All my estimation.
